The Lubrizol Corporation, headquartered in Wickliffe, OH, has an opening for a Contract Systems Specialist Administrator to support Lubrizol’s Legal Division, with a focus on administering a contract life cycle management system.  The Contract Systems Specialist Administrator is responsible for managing the contracts life cycle system and its database and the workflow for intellectual property (IP) contracts for Lubrizol and its subsidiaries.  The successful candidate must have the ability to work in a fast paced and high-volume environment, provide organized execution of work under time constraints and build relationships with Legal Division and business personnel.


  • Manage and administer the contracts life cycle management system including the automated agreement process and the manual agreement process
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the automated process and database, uploading documents and inputting metadata into the contract system
  • Train and assist users on the contracts life cycle management system and using the database
  • Prepare draft IP contracts (e.g., confidentiality, consultant, and material transfer), amendments, addendums, and statements of work with Lubrizol attorneys
  • Develop reports and analyze data to monitor and manage the contracts process
  • Interface between attorneys, business personnel and third parties regarding IP contracts
  • Revise and update IP agreement templates
  • Support Lubrizol’s Legal Division by providing administrative support to its attorneys and paralegals

  • One to two years of experience in a document/contract management system such as Agiloft, Hyland, Icertis, Contrax and e-signature software such as DocuSign, Adobe, HelloSign, PandaDoc as well as Access, and S4Hana
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an administrative, legal operations analyst/specialist or contract management role in a corporation or law firm
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and complete them under time constraints
  • Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Adobe

Assistant General Counsel - Intellectual Property - Parker-Hannifin Corporation (Cleveland, OH)

a. Position Summary:
  • Responsible for providing intellectual property related legal support and assistance to one or more business groups within Parker.  The work will include (i) counseling on a broad range of intellectual property related issues; (ii) preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications, (iii) drafting opinions relating to patentability, non-infringement, invalidity, and right to use, (iv) negotiating intellectual property related contracts or contract clauses, (v) managing third party disputes relating to intellectual property, and (vi) managing outside counsel.

b. Scope, Supervision & Interaction:
  • Reports directly to the VP Law, Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Secretary.
  • Does not currently have direct reports.

c. Essential Functions:

  • Counsel business clients on various intellectual property related issues.
  • Preparation and prosecution of patent applications, typically in the mechanical or electro-mechanical arts.
  • Manage a docket of inventions disclosures and pending patent applications.
  • Manage outside counsel on various issues including preparation and prosecution of patent applications, drafting of opinions, and litigation support.
  • Providing opinions as to patentability, non-infringement, invalidity, right to use and other intellectual property related topics.
  • Negotiating intellectual property agreements such as confidentiality agreements, development agreements and license agreements and supporting negotiation of intellectual property related clauses in other types of agreements or terms.
  • Collaborating with other in-house counsel supporting the business group(s).
  • Collaborating with others in Parker’s Intellectual Property Practice Group to improve our processes, create standard work for increased efficiency and develop, coordinate and conduct training for Parker team members.
  • Lead and actively participate in Legal Department strategy deployment and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Positively represent and impact Parker and Legal Department culture and values.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Occasional travel to U.S. and overseas facilities.

d. Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in one or more jurisdictions as well as before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Five or more years (eight or more preferred) of relevant, progressive experience as a practicing lawyer dealing with intellectual property related issues.
  • Strong technical background with at least an undergraduate degree in engineering or physics.
  • Experience with government contracts is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Ability to perform each essential function with skill, efficiency and practicality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to effectively facilitate, influence and negotiate across regions, personalities, styles and cultures.

Intellectual Property & Technology Litigation Associate - Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP (Cleveland, OH)

Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP, a global law firm, is currently seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Intellectual Property & Technology Litigation Associate to be based in our Cleveland, Ohio office.  Candidates with a minimum of two years of experience and an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent Engineering background will be considered.  Patent litigation or patent prosecution experience is a plus.
