Adjunct Professor - Case Western Reserve University School of Law (Cleveland)
Case Western Reserve University School of Law is seeking an adjunct professor to teach and supervise students in the Intellectual Property Venture Clinic of the Milton and Charlotte Kramer Law Clinic starting in August 2026. The candidate must be a USPTO-registered patent attorney, as they will focus on the Clinic’s patent clients and curriculum. The successful candidate will teach as part of a team, with the other professor focusing on the Clinic’s trademark clients and curriculum.
The Clinic’s patent practice includes provisional patent applications awaiting examination, non-provisional patent applications awaiting office action, and non-provisional patent applications to be filed. The Clinic enrolls between 4 - 8 JD students each semester. Some of the students are patent-bar eligible.
The time commitment is approximately 15 hours/week per semester which includes class time, class preparation, meetings with students, review of student work, and some administrative responsibilities flowing from the Clinic’s membership in the USPTO Law Clinic Certification Program. Through this program, our interns receive their own temporary registration numbers and file patent and trademark applications directly with the PTO rather than coaching clients through their own application process.
The Clinic will provide course modules, assignments, lesson plans and a proposed syllabus, as well as a complete instructor’s manual.
