John has held IP counsel positions with PolyOne Corporation (2002 to 2019), Bridgestone/Firestone (Chief 1999-2002), 3M (Senior 1989-1999), Figgie International (Corporate 1981-1989), and Oldham, Oldham, Hudak, and Weber (1978-1981). He graduated from Davidson (1975 B.S., cum laude and Special Attainments in Chemistry) and Wake Forest (1978 J.D., cum laude). He is an attorney in Ohio, Virginia (Inactive), and at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Mark Schultz, Director of Intellectual Property & Technology Law Program, University of Akron.
Mark is a scholar and policy expert known for his work on the law and economics of the global intellectual property system. Governments and international organizations frequently call on him to help with IP policy and capacity building. He has testified before the U.S. Congress on copyright law and has spoken at programs hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Trade Representative, and the U.S. Copyright Office, as well as numerous universities, think tanks, and industry groups around the world. He also serves as an expert on the U.S.-India IP Cooperation Dialogue.

Attorney Cundiff is a leader of the Litigation department’s global Trade Secrets practice, which is ranked in “Tier 1” by Legal 500 and is regularly named a “Leading Lawyer” nationally in the field by Legal 500. See www.legal500.com for criteria. She helps clients acquire, protect and maximize value from intellectual property. Her clients include emerging companies, joint ventures and Fortune 50 companies in a variety of industries, including software, media, financial services, insurance, medical devices, pharmaceutical, chemical, marketing, and sales and distribution organizations. Much of her work focuses on issues arising at the intersection of intellectual property and employment law, including avoiding the loss or receipt of trade secrets and other valuable assets when key employees move between competitors, analyzing and litigating restrictive covenant and intellectual property ownership disputes, and designing confidential investigation procedures and verification protocols for resolving intellectual property use and ownership disputes outside of court.
