Topic: Trademark Strategy in Athlete Brand Protection Keynote Speaker: Howard Shire, Partner at Troutman Pepper (visiting from New York, New York) Howard has more than 30 years of experience in protecting and defending his clients’ products and IP rights against infringement. His experience includes trademark infringement and dilution cases, trademark and copyright counterfeiting cases, trade dress litigations, patent litigations, and prosecution. Howard also counsels clients on internet issues and the selection of new trademarks and domain names. His client base notably includes representation in the sports and entertainment industry, including Cleveland's own Lebron James. Howard is also a trained mediator and member of the International Trademark Association’s Panel of Trademark Mediators. He is a member of the International Trademark Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. Howard currently serves as editor-in-chief of Intellectual Property Strategist and is a former editor-in-chief of The Trademark Reporter, the leading scholarly journal devoted to trademark law.
