Topic: Busting Myths and Explaining China and Trademark Counterfeiting Speaker: Paolo Beconcini, Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP (visiting from Los Angeles) Paolo has headed Squire’s China Intellectual Property team since 2012, spanning several offices, including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. In this presentation, Paolo will start from common perceptions (stereotypes) about China and how it protects trademark rights against counterfeiters to explain and analyze it in a more practical and unbiased manner. Topic: Guarding Glamour: Navigating Intellectual Property Challenges in the Luxury Goods Industry Keynote Speaker: Jana Checa Chong, Senior Intellectual Property Counsel at Louis Vuitton (visiting from New York City) Ms. Checa Chong has advised Louis Vuitton on intellectual property and fashion law issues for over a decade. Additionally, she has served as an adjunct professor for the Fashion Law Practicum course at Fordham University School of Law, her alma mater. Prior to her work at Louis Vuitton, Ms. Checa Chong was an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. She holds degrees from The George Washington University and Fordham University School of Law.
